Visit Carson City

Located just east of Lake Tahoe in western Nevada, Carson City, the state capital, is neatly located just off U.S. Route 395, and is fed by the Carson City Airport. Many visitors enjoy skiing at Alpine Meadows, found on the north shore of the beautiful Lake Tahoe, Horseback riding through the Mount Rose Wilderness, or exploring the Capital Building, built in 1870 - call ahead for tour infomation. Carson City is full of history, and you’ll find it all on display at the Nevada State Museum - where kids under 17 are admitted free.

Guests also like the Nevada State Railroad Museum - another popular destination in Carson City. Children under 18 are admitted free - although closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. History buffs may want to hop aboard the V&T Railroad, taking passengers from Gold Hill to Virginia City - where the Comstock Lode gold rush all began.
